Get your Home Ready for Company
Need to get your home ship shape before the holiday company arrives? Here are 5 tips to get you started. What? you thought you were going to learn about furniture and sprucing up your home before company arrives? You’ve come to the right place. I know it sounds funny, but peanut butter is a natural oil and lubricant that will fix your home “quirks” before the holidays. It smells good, has no harmful chemicals and costs less than any commercial product you can find. Take a look at these 5 ways you can use this household staple and save time and money.
Peanut Butter, the Oil of Choice
Bad Smells, Be Gone
Do you have an odor in your home? Got rid of the garbage but the garlic fish last night is tille permeating the house? Get rid of the candles and chemical sprays and just use peanut butter! Just put a tablespoon of the sticky stuff into a small pan, turn on low and let “cook” for 4-5 minutes. Your nasty smells will be gone and the refreshing smell of the peanut butter will be the only thing anyone smells.
Leather That’s Just Like New
If your leather coat, furniture or belts are scratched, but still in good shape, refresh them with peanut butter! Just take a small amount of creamy peanut butter and rub it well into and around the scratches. Let it dry and your good to go. The oil from the peanut butter will seal the scratches and polish the area beautifully. The aroma of peanut butter lasts only a few hours (and will smell 10 times better than a regular leather cleaner).
No More Squeaky Door
Squeaky doors will be a thing of the past. Don’t use that smelly lubricant, use peanut butter. Remember, a little goes a long way, so just apply a small amount to the hinges. This will eliminate any squeaks, will smell better and not get any black gunk on your kid’s hands. Safe for pets too.
Polish Your Scratched Wood
Remember what your wood furniture looked like when you first brought it home? Get that look again with peanut butter. It fills in scratches and nicks like a professional. The natural oils will penetrate the wood, make it swell just enough to hide the scratch and dry hard a wood! Make sure you use a thick layer of peanut butter and leave it there for at least one hour. Rub the spot(s) with a soft cloth and your scratches will be a thing of the past.
A Price Sticker’s Worst Nightmare
Well, you’ve seen how the peanut butter oil has blended into everything you apply it to and fixed it. This time you can use it to remove those nasty, unwanted stickers. Peel off what you can and run under hot water to loosen sticker residue. Rub the area with a thin layer of peanut butter. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then wipe away the stickiness with a cloth.
